Yishu is the first English language journal to focus on Chinese contemporary art and culture. It offers a platform for a wide range of voices who are living and telling the story of contemporary Chinese art from a diversity of perspectives, and who provide dialogue and debate around current visual and literary forms produced within what constitutes an expanded understanding of contemporary Chinese art.

We are pleased to win the auction on Paul Wong’s limited edition art prints. Paul Wong is an award-winning Canadian artist, curator, and organizer of public interventions since the mid-1970s. He is known for his radical approach and engagement with issues of race, sex, and death.

We immediately saw the connection with this piece, combining Eastern and Western culture. It conveys oversea living based on historical, family, and contemporary photographs of Chinese Café culture in Western Canada. It is classy and traditional. The Daoist system of “The five energies” – wood, fire, earth, metal, and water – and it’s corresponding colours influence the aesthetics of the series.

Chinese contemporary art undoubtedly attracts more and more attention in the international art market. Nowadays, auctions and other related supporting activities gradually promote Chinese contemporary art "going global", which has a very good standing in the international art market.
