Contemporary art is the art of today, produced by artists who are living in the 21st century. Contemporary art is part of a cultural dialogue that concerns larger contextual frameworks such as personal and cultural identity, family, community, and nationality. It can be contradictory, confusing, and open-ended.

We have learned a lot about Contemporary Art Market from Zhang, Xiaoming from W.Ming at our TCT 3rd anniversary luncheon at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This is a valuable lecture to learn about art and life investment.

“…"the market" isn’t really an autonomous subject. It’s a diversionary tactic -- essentially, a blend of economics, history, psychology, stagecraft and lifestyle; an unregulated field of commerce governed by desire, luck, stupidity, cupidity, personal connections, connoisseurship, intelligence, insecurity and whatever.” – Jerry Saltz (b. 1951, American art critic) “...’ – Jerry Saltz (b. 1951, 美國藝術評論家) For over ten years now the Contemporary art segment has been the art market’s second most profitable segment with its prices rising nearly as fast as the Post-War segment (artists born between 1920 and 1944).

Every art should have its unique appeal, which is the vitality of art.
