When it comes to a frightfully good Halloween party, your dining table is another creative playground to welcome your guests. There are so many options for your Halloween treats that will add up to the ultimate Fright Night.


Cupcakes are always a crowd-pleaser and Halloween cupcakes are sure to be a hit! Use your favorite recipe for the cupcake mix - they should taste great, but the important thing is the look. I suggest coloring the frosting orange, purple and white and using chocolate, sprinkles and candy corn to create spiders, mummies, ghosts, pumpkins on the top.

Prepare your house for Halloween 准备好您的房子迎接万圣节

Every autumn, as the leaves begin to change color, and the cool fall breezes begin to blow, I immediately start to think about Halloween. Halloween has been the longstanding favorite holiday worldwide. It is the perfect time to be creative – and “creepy”.


Through the years, I’ve haunted my own house in every possible way. This year I will be celebrating in Shanghai . I’ve gathered some easy guide to decorate your home for Halloween!


Decorate your front porch. Your front porch will be the portal to all of the creepy things inside your home, so it should be as scary as possible to lure your unsuspecting guests inside your house of horrors. Here are some great ways to add some Halloween spice to your front porch:


  • Use the stairs leading to your porch to create some great visual impact for your Halloween display and incorporate different shapes and sizes of planters and pumpkins.
  • Add some cobwebs and spiders
  • Make some spooky friends
  • A bucket of dead white flowers and painted white pumpkins
  • Scatter some tree branches on the ground.
  • 在走上门廊的台阶上进行创作,让来宾们在门口就感受到视觉冲击,可以选用不同形状和大小的花篮和南瓜。
  • 装饰一些蜘蛛网和蜘蛛。

Decorate your front door and windows. The door and window are the eyes and mouth of your home's Halloween soul. Adding just a few ghoulish touches to your front door and windows will make your house look haunted.

  • Attach cobwebs across the windows and dangle plastic spiders

Make your furniture look Halloween-ready. There are a few small but effective tricks to make your home look abandoned, creepy, and ready for Halloween.

  • Cover your couches and chairs with white sheets. Pick the oldest sheets you have to make it look like your home hasn't been used for years. Brownie points if the sheets have some natural-looking holes in them.
  • Cover your tables with tattered black tablecloths. Take an old black sheet and cut ragged edges all over it.
  • Drape your bookshelves in cobwebs
  • Strategically place a few fake skulls to spice up drab pieces of furniture.

Light up your home. Your lights will help set the eerie ambiance for your home, so you should make the most of the lights you have while keeping the house looking fairly dim, so that something spooky could pop up at any time. If it's too bright in your home, you won't have enough room for mystery.


  • Tape plastic bats to the inside of the shade of an ordinary lamp. When you light the lamp, the bats will stick out.
  • Light some white candles with "blood" dripping down them. Simply put some white candles over a towel or paper towel, and light a red candle over them until you've dripped enough wax over it to make it look like fake blood is oozing down the sides.
  • Light a few orange paper lanterns and drape them all over the house.
  • Carve a spooky face, a silhouette, or another spooky design on a pumpkin and light the inside.

Play up the pumpkins. Halloween would not be the same without pumpkins.

  • Hang some pumpkin balloons. Scatter them on the floor or hang them from the ceiling.
  • Take some pumpkins and paint them black, silver, or cover them in glitter. Arrange them in the corners of your home.
  • Open up a pumpkin and use it to hold potpourri.

  • Cover your paintings with fake blood. Just make sure you put it over paintings that are framed behind glass and that it washes off.
  • There are a bunch Halloween wall decals options for fun decorations. It can be cute or ghoulish.

  • Place an old birdcage on the floor. Scatter some fake rats on the bottom.

Whether you’re looking for some of the best Japanese food in NYC or simply a high-class spot, the best fine-dining restaurants in New York have got you covered. I will introduce you some of my favorites in Midtown Manhattan:


Masa (10 Columbus Circle) ***

Masa is undoubtedly the best sushi and Japanese restaurant in NYC. All the dish comes every other day directly from Tokyo Tskuji fish market. Chef Masa Takayama is behind the sushi bar in person preparing and over watching food and service. The offerings are Omakase (no menu) only, with chef-selected meals. Masa garnered the Michelin Guide's highest rating starting with the 2009 guide and was the first Japanese restaurant in the U.S. to do so.

Newly opened Majorelle specializes in French cuisine with a Mediterranean-influence by Charles Masson, former La Grenouille frontman and four-star Chef Christian Delouvrier. Highlights from the menu include foie gras with warm apple délice, roasted chicken with potato mousseline, and rosemary-skewered shrimp with saffron rice. There is even an in-house braiserie, dedicated to making exquisite broths, sauces, and soups.

Daniel is a New French restaurant, run by French celebrity Chef Daniel Boulud, New York's longest-reigning four-star chef. It is two-star rated by the Michelin Guide.

Jean Georges, named after Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is a crown-jewel restaurant of the Trump International Hotel and Tower. It is a three-star rated by the Michelin Guide and is one of the top five best French restaurants in the Americas.

Later Pastry Chef Joe Murphy, who has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the US Pastry Competition, takes over and continues the tradition and more classic.

Be creative with your Thanksgiving meal 创意满满的感恩节大餐

Just right after our traditional Chinese Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, here comes to another traditional celebration in Western culture, Thanksgiving Day.


On this day, it is celebrated by gathering with loved ones and preparing the Thanksgiving Day meal, which usually includes turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and many other dishes.


While Thanksgiving is always a feast, it can get a little boring to have the same dishes year after year. On this Turkey Day, spice things up with some non-conventional Thanksgiving recipes that are sure to become a new tradition. Next, I will introduce a few healthy and delicious side dishes to our new Thanksgiving menu:


1. Creamy Cheese Grits 芝士奶味麦粒

These luscious cheese grits can replace standard mashed potatoes as an alluring side dish.


  • 5 1/2 cups water
  • Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups stone-ground grits
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 5 1/2杯水
  • 1 1/2杯石磨麦粒
  • 2汤匙无盐黄油
  • 1/3杯现磨Parmigiano-Reggiano芝士
  • 现磨胡椒
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add a pinch of salt and gradually whisk in the grits.
  3. Cover and cook over low heat, whisking often, until the grits are thick and just tender, about 25 minutes.
  4. Stir in the butter and cheese, season with salt and pepper and serve.

2. Spaghetti Squash 面条节瓜

Have a showstopping side ready in just 30 minutes with this festive spaghetti squash dish. With green lentils, tomatoes, and spinach in the mix, it’s full of so many goodies that your fellow diners may not even realize it’s actually free of gluten, grains, and dairy.


  • 1 large Spaghetti Squash
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 can of green lentils (19 oz can), rinsed and drained (or previously cooked)
  • bunch of baby spinach or chopped spinach
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • sea salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh basil or thyme for plating
  • grape seed oil for cooking
  • 1大个面条节瓜

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and drizzle with olive oil.
  3. Halve the Spaghetti Squash lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and strings from the center and place on a baking sheet cut side down and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool completely by basically setting aside and preparing the other ingredients.
  5. In a large skillet, drizzle in grape seed oil and sautee the onion, add in the cherry tomatoes and continue cooking uncovered for about 2 minutes until the tomatoes brown slightly.
  6. Stir in the lentils, spinach and seasoning: celery seeds, turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.
  7. Reduce heat to low and cover the pan to allow the spinach to wilt and heat the lentils.
  8. Turn off heat and set aside.
  9. Back to the squash, fluff the ‘meat’ of the squash with a fork and scoop into the skillet.
  10. Stir to combine all the ingredients well. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  11. Scoop into the shells of the squash evenly.
  12. Top with chopped basil and serve hot.

  6. 加入小扁豆、菠菜和调味料:芹菜籽、姜黄、辣椒粉、盐和胡椒。
  7. 调成小火,盖上盖子,焖煮熟菠菜和豆子。
  8. 关火放在一边。
  9. 再用叉子将节瓜肉打成绒,舀到煎锅里。
  10. 充分把所有原料混合。酌情调味。
  11. 把混合物舀入节瓜里。
  12. 在上面撒上罗勒趁热食用。

3. Cornbread Sausage Stuffing Muffins 香肠馅玉米面包玛芬

These moist cornbread muffins are filled with stuffing ingredients like sausage, onions, celery and scallions, for a very flavorful muffin.


For the cornbread muffins:
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
for the filling:
  • 1/2 -3/4 lb pork andouille sausage (finely chopped, browned, and cooked. I sliced my sausages into 1/2 inch thick slices and then divided each slice into quarters)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery (lightly sauteed so that they remain crunchy)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onions (lightly sauteed)
  • 3 tbsp chopped green scallions
  • 1杯通用面粉
  • 1/2杯玉米
  • 1/2 杯玉米面粉
  • 1茶匙泡打粉
  • 1/4杯粗糖
  • 1茶匙盐
  • 1杯酪奶
  • 1 大颗鸡蛋
  • 1/3 杯植物油
  • 1/2 -3/4磅猪肉和ouille香肠(剁碎、烤熟),我将香肠切成1/2英寸厚片,再对切成四份。
  • 1/4杯切碎的芹菜(快炒保留爽脆的口感)
  • 1/4杯洋葱切丁(快炒)
  • 3汤匙绿葱切碎
  1. Preheat oven to 375F. Line muffin tin with cupcake liners. In a large bowl, add all the cornbread ingredients and mix with a whisk until everything is blended. Scoop batter into cupcake liners, filling between 1/2 to 2/3 full. You should be able to make 12 muffins.
  2. In a separate bowl, add all the filling ingredients and mix together. Scoop a heaping 1 tbsp of stuffing into the middle of each muffin. Try to  make sure each one has an even amount of all the stuffing ingredients.
  3. Bake for about 20 minutes until muffins are done. Serve warm. Garnish with additional scallions if desired.

Q Shi Q 烤串吧

We came across this Q Shi Q Japanese Yakitori Bar in Olympic Village neighbourhood. The restaurant is an absolute hidden gem, away from the busy crowds. You can hardly notice there is a restaurant by its exterior and the location that is situated.

You can try a little of everything and keep the orders coming.

Their skewers are carefully crafted from the most premium cuts of meats, seafood and vegetables. The chicken tsukune set is amazing and very flavorful. The meats are chewy and tender. Most of the spiciness come from black pepper.

TCT summer Icy MoMoChaCha 《茶非茶》夏日摩摩喳喳

夏天就要到了,把《茶非茶》的夏日活动排上您的日程吧,我们为您准备了钢琴交响音乐会、秘密花园晚会、以及画廊午餐会等等供您选择。 I would like to present you a delicious dessert soup, named Bubur Chacha to cool you off before all the coming excitements from TCT summer schedule.

在开启这趟《茶非茶》夏日嬷嬷茶过山车之前,先镇定一下,我们在此为您呈上一道美味的马来西亚甜汤叫“Bubur Chacha” “摩摩喳喳”,欣喜之余,甜蜜椰香来消暑。

Bubur Cha Cha


  • 150 gm yam (taro), peeled and diced
  • 150 gm golden sweet potato
  • 150 gm purple sweet potato
  • 50 gm black-eyed beans (black-eyed peas)
  • 50 gm tapioca pearls (sago pearls)
  • 1 liter boiling water, plus more to cook beans and tapioca pearls
  • 120 gm rock sugar or coconut sugar, finely chopped, or to taste
  • 1½ cup coconut cream, or to taste
  • 3 pandan leaves
  • 150克山芋(芋头),去皮切丁
  • 150克黄山芋
  • 150克紫山芋
  • 50克黑眼豆
  • 50克木薯粉珍珠(西米珍珠)
  • 1升开水,准备更多煮豆子和珍珠
  • 120克冰糖或椰子糖,充分切碎,依口味
  • 1½杯椰浆,依口味
  • 3香兰叶
  • Rinse the black-eyed beans and drain well. Soak in boiling water with cover for 15 to 20 minutes. Drain and put into a large pot of boiling water. The water should cover the beans up to at least 2 inches. Bring it to boil. Reduce heat to simmer over medium-slow heat until softened, but not mushy, about 20 to 30 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  • Soak tapioca pearls for 10 minutes. Drain and transfer into a pot of boiling water. Cover and cook over medium heat until it boils again. Immediately remove from heat. Don’t remove the pot lid. Let the residual heat inside to cook for further 10 minutes. Drain through a fine sieve. Rinse with running cold water. Drain well. The tapioca pearls should be translucent and retain their shapes. If some of them still have a white spot in the middle, they are not cooked through completely. It’s fine because you need to cook them with coconut milk later.
  • Steam diced yam, golden and purple sweet potato in a wok over high heat, until softened, about 20 minutes. Test with a sharp knife or toothpick. They should be very easy to prick through.
  • Use a large deep pot. Add 1 liter of boiling water with the rock sugar. Bring it to boil. Add pandan leaves. Reduce heat to simmer for 10 minutes. Pour in coconut cream. Once it boils again, drain up and discard the pandan leaves. Add the sweet potatoes, black-eyed beans, tapioca pearls. The rock sugar should be dissolved completely. Taste and add more sugar if needed. Served hot. Or let it cool down and chill in fridge if you like it served cold.
  • 清洗黑眼豆并沥干。浸泡在开水里盖上盖子约15到20分钟。去水,放入一大锅开水中。水面须高出豆子至少2英寸。煮开。调至中低火焖煮直至变软,但不要稀烂,约20到30分钟。充分沥干放置待用。
  • 放水浸润木薯珍珠10分钟,然后沥干转入一锅开水中。盖上盖子,中火煮到再次沸腾。关火。不要打开盖子,用余温焖上10分钟。用滤网去水。用流动的冷水冲洗。再沥干。珍珠应透明并没有变形。如果有些中间还有小白点,那就说明还没煮透。这样也没关系,因为稍后还要放在椰奶里煮一下。
  • 高温蒸芋头丁,黄山芋和紫山芋,直到变软,约20分钟。用尖刀或筷子试一下。合适的软度应该很容易戳穿。

  • The consistency of every brand of coconut cream is very different. You can adjust the amount to your liking.
  • Choose different colours of sweet potato to make this dish more colourful and attractive. The diced sweet potatoes will turn black if they are not cooked immediately. Soak them in water to avoid from turning black in colour.
  • You can put the diced sweet potato in water to cook until softened instead of steaming. But beware that the purple sweet potato will turn your sweet coconut soup into purple. That’s why I used steaming.
  • 不同品牌的椰浆醇厚度不同。您可以按喜好调整。
  • 选用不同颜色的山芋,可以让甜汤色面漂亮吸引人。山芋切开后不马上烹煮会发黑影响外观。将它们浸在水里能避免这种情况。
  • 如果不蒸的话,您也可以把山芋丁泡在水里直至变软。但请注意紫薯会让甜汤染上紫色。这也是为什么选择用蒸的办法。

无论您是在您妈妈尚未起床时就端上早餐,或是为她烘烤一份甜蜜小点或三道菜的大餐,没有什么比为她下厨做次美食更能表达“妈妈爱你”了。   This Mother's Day make sure to tell your mom how much you love her and you will prepare a delicious meal for her.

This dish is delicious as a vegan option, but if you like, you can also add roast chicken.


(1) Roasted Spiced Lemony Cauliflower


Ingredients (serves 4):

2.5 cups (260g) Cauliflower florets 2 tbsp Olive Oil

1/2 tsp Cumin

1/2 tsp Paprika

1/4 tsp Cayenne

1 pinch of Salt

4 twists of freshly Ground Pepper 1 tsp Lemon Juice

原料 (4人份):








  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF
  2. Cut the cauliflower into bite sized pieces and wash
  3. In a large bowl add cauliflower, olive oil, spices and season, toss well
  4. Once oven is preheated place cauliflower on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  5. Set timer for 15 minutes and using a spatula flip and move the cauliflower around to cook evenly
  6. Set timer for another 10 minutes or until edges start to brown but not burn.
  7. Squeeze juice of half a lemon on cauliflower
  8. Taste and adjust if needed with more salt or lemon juice
  1. 烤箱预热到400ºF
  2. 将花椰菜切成适口大小洗净
  3. 在大碗里加入花椰菜、橄榄油、调味料,翻摇拌匀
  4. 烤箱热度达到后将花椰菜放在铺上了烤盘纸的烤盘。
  5. 计时器设为15分钟,用铲子翻炒花椰菜让它们均匀熟透。
  6. 计时器再设10分钟,指导菜的边缘泛棕而不至烤焦。
  7. 将半个柠檬汁挤在花菜上。
  8. 尝口味,如果需要可以再多加些盐或柠檬汁。

(2) Quick-Preserved Lemon



1 medium Lemon, cut crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick rounds

1/3 cup fresh Lemon Juice

1 teaspoon coarse Sea Salt





Directions: Combine all ingredients in small skillet. Bring to boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve salt. Cover; reduce heat to low. Simmer until lemon slices are almost tender (peel will look translucent), about 10 minutes. Cool. Can be made one week ahead. Transfer to bowl. Cover; chill.

方法: 将所有原料混合到小的奶锅中。高温煮沸,搅拌溶化盐。盖上盖子,调至小火。焖煮直至柠檬片变软(表皮变透明)约10分钟。冷却。可以提前一周备好。移至碗中盖上盖子冷却

(3) Pickled Cabbage


Ingredients(serve 4):

3 cups Red Cabbage, shredded 2 cups Water

2 cups White Wine Vinegar 4 tsp Sugar

Pinch of Salt

1 tsp Sesame Seeds






  1. Shred cabbage into thin strips in food processor with slicer blade or slice by hand and put in bowl
  2. Bring water, vinegar, sugar and salt to a boil
  3. Pour over shredded cabbage. Make sure cabbage is submerged in the liquid and let it stand for at least 15-20 minutes
  4. Drain off liquid and add sesame and salt to taste
  1. 甘蓝用食品处理机切片刀头切成细条,或手切,放入碗中。
  2. 将水、醋、糖和盐加入煮沸。
  3. 倒入甘蓝丝。确保甘蓝充分浸没,浸泡至少15-20分钟。

(4) Hummus


Ingredients(serve 4):

1 can (425g) Chickpeas or 1 cup dried Chickpeas,  soaked overnight

½ cup Tahini

2 medium Lemons (280g), juiced

½ cup Olive Oil

Salt to Taste

Garlic clove

Water, add accordingly to your preference of smoothness

Optional for topping and flavouring Drizzle of Olive Oil

Sumac or Cumin, powder

  1. If using dried chickpeas, boil the chickpeas until soft (about one hour). If using canned chickpeas, drain liquid and rinse in colander.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a food processor until smooth, adding water and salt to adjust to your taste preference

  2. 将所有原料用料理机混合,直至打成细腻糊状,依口味加水和盐。

(5) Garlicky Yogurt


Ingredients(serve 4):

1 large clove of Garlic

1 cup Full-Fat Plain Yogurt 1 tsp, Salt

1/2 Lemon, juiced





  1. Juice half a lemon in a small bowl
  2. On a cutting board, sprinkle sliced garlic with salt and use the side of your knife to crush it repeatedly until the garlic is a paste
  3. Mix the yogurt, garlic, lemon juice and more salt if necessary
  1. 用小碗取半颗柠檬汁
  2. 在切板上,给蒜片撒上盐,用刀背反复按压直到成为蒜泥。
  3. 将酸奶、蒜、柠檬汁混合,可以加入更多盐。

(6) Lemon Rosemary Cashew Cream


Ingredients(serve 4):

1 cup of raw Cashews, soaked in room temperature water overnight or in boiled water for 30 minutes

4 tbsp of fresh Lemon Juice (or more if needed)

1/2 Garlic clove

4 Sprigs of fresh Rosemary (de-stemmed)

1 tsp Olive Oil

1/4 cup Water (add a little to create the consistency you like)








  1. Strain and rinse cashews
  2. Add all ingredients into a blender until consistency is smooth, add water if you feel it is a little dry.
  3. Set aside in a bowl. Leftovers are great for making wraps and sandwiches too!

(7) Roast Chicken Thighs with Preserved Lemons


Ingredients (serves 4):

4 Chicken Thighs (170g each), bone-in, skin on 1 Preserved Lemon*

1 Lemon, juice half and skin for zest

6 Garlic cloves, firm end cut off and peeled 2 tsp Cumin, ground

1 tsp Coriander, ground

1 tsp Chili Pepper, dried

1/3 cup Olive Oil

Salt to taste









  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF
  2. Remove the peel from the preserved lemon, and cut it into thin slices. Put it in a large bowl
  3. Zest the lemon with a microplane, then cut it in half and juice it, adding it into the bowl
  4. Add in the remaining ingredients and a liberal seasoning of salt, and use your hands to mix the spices into the chicken
  5. Put into a casserole dish lined with parchment paper
  6. Cook until chicken is cooked through, about 30-35 minutes. Internal temperature should read 165º F. If you like crispy skin, broil in oven for 2-3 minutes at the end
  1. 烤箱预热到400ºF
  2. 柠檬片去皮,切成细条。盛入大碗。
  3. 用刨刀取柠檬皮屑,切一半取汁,加入碗中。
  4. 加入剩余原料,和适量盐调味,用手给鸡腌制。
  5. 放到铺好烘焙纸的砂锅。
  6. 烤熟鸡肉约30-35分钟。内部温度须达到165º F 。如果您偏爱脆嫩的鸡皮口感,最后再在烤箱里烤2-3分钟。

Build your Ottolenghi plate


Place cauliflower/chicken, hummus, pickled cabbage and lemon cashew cream on a plate and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve with a wedge of lemon. Each bite should incorporate all the different ingredients. Enjoy!
